trator, and Freelance Writer. These encompass only some of the jobs that Joel has held at one time or another, a subject that has been covered numerous times during the HijiNKS ENSUE Podcast. Joel lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife and daughter.

Joel's Jobs[]

Before turning to HijiNKS ENSUE as a full time job, Joel was a management and sales for a web design company. For years, however, Joel had a very impressive string of very odd jobs. This included (but was not limited to):

  • His very first job with with Academy: Sports & Outdoors. (Podcast 6)
  • Working at an electronics store called, "Service Merchandise", from which Joel bought a 36" TV that he himself discounted to 10% of cost. This store sold warranties and "Service Plus" as well, but didn't actually offer any of these services. (Podcast 3)
  • Working in a "head shop" where he did henna tattoos.  At the time, he didn't know it was a head shop, nor did he actually know how to do henna tattoos. (Podcast 3)
  • Working for the Sweet Leaf Tea company for 6 months (the very tea Josh regularly drinks). (Podcast 3)
  • Fixing computers for an unspecified company. (Podcast 6)

Joel's Health[]

Joel's health has become a central topic of the comic with it's fluctuations and his multiple trips to the hospital. While Joel has mentioned various carpal tunnel problems with his wrist and back problems before, the first mention of his back problems in the comic came in It Hurts When I Do this, where a doctor told Joel that he had spine weevils. Joel purchased an Inversion Table from Josh in Welcome To The Machine which caused Joel more pain but seemed to help his back pain. The Lumbar Puncture Joel received gave him a case of Spinal Headaches, as depicted in Guest Comic By Save Hiatus. Joel received a Spinal Tap in Malpractice Makes Perfect, which caused his left side of everything to go numb. When Josh and Eli realized that Joel's health problems were causing his hits to rise, they knocked Joel out with a giant wrench in Guest Comic By Lee Bretschneider.
